Do you want to quit smoking?
About 2 smokers out of 3 want to quit. Some people can do so easily, their willpower & determination being the keys to their success. But nicotine is a drug, it's highly addictive and many people struggle to give it up. Fortunately, there are plenty of ressources available to help you quit.
How can I help my spouse/child/friend/etc ... quit smoking ?
Words alone won't convince a smoker to break the habit. No matter what you do, you can't force a smoker to stop if she/he doesn't want to. But if your friend/partner/relative is one of the 2 out of 3 smokers who really want to quit, there are ways you can be supportive & make quitting a little easier for them.
We'll review the options, both the “evidence-based” ones & the others. We'll also discuss techniques to boost the motivation of “quitters.” There'll be plenty of time for questions and exchange of experiences. We hope by the end of the seminar you'll have found your solution!
Anne-Valérie Meyers is a Medical Doctor with nearly 20 years' experience, not only in France and the United States but also in several West African countries. In 2002, she opened her Family Practice in Paris and specialized in Smoking Cessation to respond to her patients' needs.
Thursday April 22nd, 2010, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Do you find yourself putting off projects or sabotaging your goals?
Every day you choose to do or not to do many things. Each choice, whether big or little, makes living your life more or less fulfilling, more or less balanced, more or less effective. There's probably a very good reason behind it: right objective, but wrong approach? lack of motivation? or maybe it doesn't fit in with your current identity of self?
We need to better understand ourselves & what drives us, so we can make the right decisions for ourselves. Life coaching is a process that helps you learn how to make choices that create the effective, balanced & fulfilling life your wish for.
Life Coach Andy King will share with you strategies to check if your current lifestyle is in balance & begin to make changes in the areas you want.
So stop making excuses for yourself. Remember that tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life. Join us to learn how to make your dreams come true !
Andy King is a certified Personal Trainer & Corporate Fitness Consultant. He regularly speaks on health & fitness topics. He has worked with hundreds of clients over the years in Canada, the United States & France. Thursday May 6th, 2010, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
To a great extent, it is not external circumstances that cause stress, but the way we react to them. Without even realising it, we tend to react in habitual, unhealthy ways to all kinds of situations and provocations. We lose our natural poise and rhythm, and this becomes manifested in stress, back pain, exhaustion and a host of other problems
The Alexander Technique is a no-nonsense method of self-discovery. By becoming more aware of our habits and reactions and co-ordination on every level, we regain our natural poise and effortlessness.
The Alexander Technique is not an end in itself but a tool that helps us work and play more effortlessly and enjoyably, and remain balanced, integrated, and alert.
During the seminar, we will look at how the principles of the Alexander Technique can be applied to daily life.
Annie Edwards trained as a teacher of the Alexander Technique in Cologne and Paris, where she has been based for the past four years. She is a certified member of the Association of Alexander Technique Teachers (APTA) in France. In addition to teaching, she is a student of musicology and has a particular interest in the application of the Alexander Technique to music.

Did you know that there are 7,200 nerve endings in a single foot?
Archeologists have shown that the ancient Egyptians & Chinese used foot acupressure as part of their medicine. In the West, it's American physiotherapist Eunice Ingham who drew the first chart of the reflex zones in the feet in 1930.
By applying just the right pressure with thumbs and fingers, the Reflexologist can gently stimulate all the body's systems and improve organ function.
The workshop will be hands-on. You'll learn the important points to stimulate for health maintenance. The hand pressure points are especially useful because you can use them anywhere – even in a boring meeting – and no one will notice what you're up to.
Sofia Brignone is a certified Reflexologist using the Original Ingham Method and practising in Paris. Her youngest patient is 3 years old and her oldest patient 90. Every year she volunteers at a clinic in the Mexican jungle, bringing the benefits of Reflexology to all who are willing to try something new …
