Simply Speaking: A Health Wise Paris subgroup
Are you interested in what is called the ‘talking treatments’? If so, come and talk about it.
Simply Speaking is a subgroup of Health Wise Paris. Our principal concern is to
provide simple, clear access to information and discussion on the different kinds of ‘talking treatments’ practiced today. We will also be addressing current issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, behavioural difficulties, etc., their causes and how they can be treated. We are seeking to sustain a lively ‘conversation’ in the English language through the organization of seminars, workshops and clinical work groups.
At Simply Speaking, professionals from different fields and organisations can meet and exchange experiences, give advice and learn from each other. Non-professionals interested in the subject are also very welcome. Simply Speaking also seeks to provide information to enable people who are looking for treatment to decide what is the right approach for them. The Health Wise Internet site not only provides a listing of practitioners but we are planning to create a ‘Psy-clopedia’ of articles on all matters relating to psychological health for those who want to know more.
Simply Speaking Activities and Membership
You are not required to be a member of HWP nor even of Simply Speaking to attend the majority of Simply Speaking events. However membership allows you to participate more fully. There are two types of Simply Speaking members:
1) As a ‘practitioner member’ of Simply Speaking, members benefit from being part of a working community where it is possible to network and exchange ideas. Being a practitioner member also gives access to the clinical case work groups. By participating in Simply Speaking activities, practitioner members can contribute to the HWP Simply Speaking Internet site archives and "Psyclopedia", bringing their engagement as serious practitioners into play in the dynamic of the Simply Speaking working community.
2) ‘Non-practitioner' members’ are welcome to participate in Simply Speaking activities. However, as non-practitioners, they do not have access to the clinical case work groups for reasons of case confidentiality.
